Description
Comunica is a highly modular and flexible meta query engine platform for the Web. It is primarily designed to execute SPARQL queries over one or more interfaces of Linked Data on the Web, such as SPARQL endpoints, Triple Pattern Fragments interfaces, RDF documents and more. Its modular nature makes it easy to extend, configure and experiment with different query processing techniques. Comunica provides multiple ready-to-use query engine configurations including: a full SPARQL engine, an engine for querying local RDF files, an engine for querying over in-memory RDF datasets, an engine for querying within Solid data vaults, and an engine for link traversal across the Web. It also supports GraphQL-LD queries over RDF, and can be used both as a Node.js library, from the command line, from a browser application and as a SPARQL HTTP endpoint. Comunica is built around a publish/subscribe bus-and-mediator pattern where actors implement distinct functionalities. This design allows developers to swap out or add individual actor components to create custom query engine configurations tailored to their specific use case. It is maintained by the Comunica Association and the research groups IDLab at Ghent University and imec, Belgium.
